The Year 2010 has already begun and we are still celebrating the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ. May the Infant God fill us with His Grace during this New Year! On the Feast of the Most Holy Name we have seen with the Holy Father and Saint Bernard, that Faith is a personal, intimate encounter with Jesus Christ. The Liturgy is certainly the first place where we can be intimate with Our Lord and Savior. It is our resolution of the year, for our community of Cherokee Village, to improve our liturgical life, so that we can be closer to Our Lord. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is now offered daily – here at Cherokee Village or at Mountain Home – and we have to give thanks to God for this. But the liturgical life of a community should not come down to the only celebration of the Mass, though it is undoubtedly its major part in importance and dignity. The Divine Office has its importance too and we shall do the best we can in order to make it available for you, especially Vespers, the traditional evening prayer. The most recent Popes from Saint Pius X to Benedict XVI have encouraged the laity to unite their prayers to the Prayer of the Church by attending the Divine Office. Let us remember with Saint Benedict that Nothing should be placed before the Work of God! Finally, I invite you to “click” on our ‘community store’ where you will be able to find some interesting literature for the youngest as well as for the grown up people, for your enjoyment as well as for your formation in the knowledge of the Faith. With my blessing for the Year 2010!
